Wire Rope Safety

Wire rope safety is the responsibility of each user. The rope must be properly marked, and the rope must be used in accordance with its design, manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA standards. Each worker should use personal protective equipment (PPE) that fits properly and that is suitable for his or her job. Wire rope can be dangerous if it is not used as intended or if it is damaged or frayed. When you are working with wire rope , it is important to keep safety in mind. Wire rope has an outer sheath of plastic or rubber that is often coated with a protective oil. However, this coating can be removed by abrasion (rubbing against something), which can cause the wire rope to break or separate from its core material. This could result in serious injury and death. Even if the wire doesn't break, it can become tangled or wrapped around itself or other objects, which can lead to injury as well. Wire rope is a type of industrial rope that is used for lifting and moving heavy load
